What is Medicinal Aromatherapy?
Medicinal Aromatherapy is Earth's original medicine. Its powerful healing properties have been in use since man's relationship with the plants and trees began. The use of aromatherapy dates back to before the written word. Ancient cultures from around the globe have oral traditions supporting extensive use of aromatic essences derived from plants and trees.
It is a holistic natural medicine that is designed to treat the whole person and not just the symptom or disease by assisting the body's natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself. Aromatherapy excels as a form of complementary and alternative medicine, helping and bringing relief to millions of people where conventional medicine currently fails. It has long been understood that preventative measures go a very long way towards protecting the body against all types of illnesses. Therefore, the influence of essential oils on the immune system, places aromatherapy in the pre-eminent position as the finest preventative medicine. What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are alive, active, chemical compounds that are naturally extracted from the inner chambers of the plant and tree. They are tiny aromatic molecules made up of tens of thousands of complex chemical compounds. These highly concentrated essences are easily absorbed into the skin and then directly into the bloodstream where they are carried throughout the body delivering their beneficial healing powers. This natural form of medicine is being warmly embraced by today's environmentally conscious and caring society, in which people are increasingly unwilling to accept the cruelty inflicted on animals in the unnecessary testing of drugs and beauty products.
The essential oils within aromatherapy have been tried and tested on humans for thousands of years and with great success. Therefore, when used correctly under the guidance of a trained medicinal aromatherapist, we can be absolutely sure of their safety and efficacy without the need to test them further on animals. New strength to go forward...
Recently when my husband was diagnosed with a life threatening condition I fell to pieces unable to focus on taking steps forward. I spent weeks in self imposed social isolation trying to deal with everything myself. Sharon, upon learning of my situation, made a house call bringing with her Violet,and Laurel Leaf. She counseled me and introduced each of these aromas. She listened to my concerns and shared thoughts with me as well as explained what the Essences could do to help me. By the time she left i felt as if i had received new strength to go forward to deal with the issues at hand. I felt as if I had the tools i needed to help myself. My husband had a medical procedure performed which left him restless and irritated while in the recovery room. The nurses were busy trying to deal with all the patients and I decided to try my Violet out on him. Within minutes he calmed down and soon was resting peacefully. The nurses smelled the Violet and one by one came to investigate the “new attitude” of their formerly restless patient. They were pleasantly surprised at how quickly he calmed down. I showed them my Violet bottle and they quickly copied down the name and were quite interested in how well this worked to relieve the stress both my husband and I were feeling. Several even tried it themselves as they were having a pretty stressful day. Seeing was believing.
I carry my Violet in my purse so I always have it available. It is something I always put on when I go to a funeral. It helps me deal with my emotions.
